Wholesale Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)
Energy Petroleum Company is a premier wholesale distributor of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) across Missouri and Illinois. As the transportation industry transitions to strict EPA emission standards, we are dedicated to securing your supply chain. We proudly supply Super Clean DEF ensuring your fleet remains compliant, efficient, and fully operational.
API-Certified Quality & SCR Performance
Diesel Exhaust Fluid is a critical component for modern Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems. When injected into the exhaust stream, DEF vaporizes and reacts with the SCR catalyst to convert harmful nitrogen oxides (NOx) into harmless nitrogen gas and water vapor.
To guarantee the longevity of your SCR systems, we exclusively supply Super Clean DEF. It is a non-toxic, strictly controlled solution of 32.5% ultra-pure automotive-grade urea and 67.5% de-ionized water.
- API Certified: Meets the rigorous quality and safety standards of the American Petroleum Institute.
- ISO 22241 Compliant: Guaranteed purity and composition to prevent scaling, nozzle blockages, and catalyst poisoning.
- Efficiency Boost: While not a fuel additive, optimal SCR function supported by high-purity DEF can help improve overall fuel economy by up to 5%.
Flexible Packaging & Dispensing Solutions
Whether you manage a single truck or a massive commercial fleet, we offer scalable storage and dispensing methods. We also provide highly cost-effective, reusable closed-liquid dispensing systems for retail, commercial, and fleet applications.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid FAQ’s
If you haven’t heard of DEF, chances are you will soon. DEF is required in all new diesel engines and your vehicle or fleet will likely soon be required to have this new product. Energy Petroleum is a leading supplier of DEF in the area and is capable of meeting our customers’ needs as they transition their vehicles or fleets to the newer modules that require the DEF product. (Packaging Styles)
DEF is a non-toxic solution of 67.5% purified water and 32.5% ultra-pure automotive-grade urea. This specific 32.5% concentration is critical, as it provides the lowest possible freezing point and is the exact ratio engines are calibrated to for optimum NOx reduction.
DEF begins to crystallize and freeze at 12°F (-11°C). Because both the urea and water freeze at the exact same rate, the fluid does not become diluted or over-concentrated as it thaws. Freezing and thawing will not degrade the product. (Note: DEF expands by about 7% when frozen, so our packaging is designed to accommodate this expansion).
During vehicle operation, SCR systems are designed to heat the DEF tank and supply lines. If DEF freezes while the vehicle is parked, normal start-up will not be inhibited. The heating system quickly returns the DEF to liquid form without impacting performance.
DEF should be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight. If stored consistently between 12°F and 90°F, the shelf life is easily one year. If maximum temperatures do not exceed 75°F, the shelf life extends to two years.
DEF consumption is typically 2% to 3% of the vehicle’s diesel fuel consumption. For example, a truck averaging 6 MPG can expect to travel approximately 300 miles on a single gallon of DEF.
The industry standard DEF dispensing nozzle is 19mm in diameter, which is slightly narrower than a standard 22mm diesel fuel nozzle. Additionally, DEF tank caps are universally colored blue to distinguish them from diesel tanks.
No. Cummins and all major OEMs strictly require DEF to meet ISO 22241 and API specifications. Creating your own mixture risks improper concentration and mineral impurities, which will rapidly cause catastrophic, expensive damage to your vehicle’s SCR system.
